Dr Rajiv Menon

Dr Rajiv Menon is a consultant psychiatrist with over 30 years’ experience in the care of older adults. After working for six years as a physician/geriatrician, he switched to psychiatry in 1988 and trained at the Maudsley and Bethlem Royal Hospitals. During this period he also worked at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Baltimore, USA, where he was awarded a Research Fellowship for his work on MRI scans. On return to the UK, Dr Menon worked at the Institute of Psychiatry and obtained an M.Phil. from King’s College, London. He was appointed consultant psychiatrist for older adults at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital in 1995, and retired from the NHS after 20 years as a consultant. He currently divides his time between tribunal work, medico-legal work and private practice. Dr Menon has considerable expertise in all aspects of older adult psychiatry, with a special interest in the overlap between physical and mental health. He also has an interest in assessing testamentary capacity (both in life and retrospectively from records). He is multilingual, speaking fluent English, Malayalam, Hindi and Urdu.

Assessment

Rajiv provides thorough testamentary capacity assessments. He aims to see you within a matter of days from referral and can see you at your home or at our consulting rooms. Rajiv also provides retrospective capacity assessments of the deceased from medical and other records. Specialised in mental and physical health, his binocular approach to testamentary capacity is unique.

Appointment prices

Capacity assessment of 60 minutes incl. report, priced at £375.

Comprehensive diagnostic & capacity assessment of 120 minutes incl. report, priced at £750.

Optional follow-ups at £300 for 60 minutes, and £150 for 30 minutes.

Home visit supplements starting from £100.

Retrospective Capacity Assessment incl. report and providing evidence in court priced at £300 per hour (price estimates can be provided on referral).
